How to use CCS2 to GBT EV Charging Adapter ?

Using a CCS2 to GBT charging adapter depends on what you’re trying to achieve: charging a China-standard (GBT/DC) EV at a CCS2 charger, or the other way around.

1. What It Does

CCS2 → GBT adapter allows Chinese EVs (GBT inlet) to charge at European CCS2 DC fast chargers.

Converts mechanical interface (plug shape) and communication protocol (CCS2 → GBT) so the car and charger “understand” each other.

2. Steps to Use

Check Compatibility
Your EV must have a GBT DC inlet.
The adapter must support the charger’s max voltage/current (many CCS2 chargers in EU support 500–1000V, 200–500A).
Not all adapters support liquid cooling or ultra-fast charging.

Connect Adapter to CCS2 Charger
Plug the CCS2 charging gun into the adapter’s CCS2 side until it clicks.
The adapter now “translates” the CCS2 charger’s connector.
Connect Adapter to Your EV
Insert the adapter’s GBT side into your car’s GBT inlet securely.
Make sure the lock mechanism engages.

Activate Charging

Use the charger’s app, RFID card, or screen to start charging.
The adapter will handle the protocol handshake (power level, safety checks, start command).

Monitor Charging

Charging status will show on your EV’s dashboard and on the charger.
If the handshake fails, stop and recheck connections.

Stop Charging

End session via charger screen/app.
Wait for the system to cut power.
Disconnect from your car first, then remove CCS2 gun.

Always buy a high-quality adapter (cheap ones may fail handshake or overheat).

Some adapters are passive (mechanical only) and won’t work for DC fast charging — make sure it’s active with protocol conversion.

Charging power may be limited (e.g., 60–150kW even if charger supports 350kW).
