EV Adapter CCS2 to CHAdeMO for Nissan Leaf ,Toyota Electric Vehicles

EV Adapter CCS2 to CHAdeMO

This dc adapter is designed for Japan Standard (CHAdeMO) vehicle to charge on European Standard (CCS2) charging stations.
Cable Side: CCS 2 (IEC 62196-3)
Car Side: CHAdeMO (CHAdeMO 1.0 Standard)

The CHAdeMO charger is reducing yearly. But still millions CHAdeMO stock car in the world.MIDA EV Power as one of the CHAdeMO association members, We developing this adapter for CHAdeMO car owner for rapid charging on CCS2 charger. This product is suitable for electric bus with CHAdeMO port and Model S/X via CHAdeMO adapter as well.
Designed for These Models: Citroen Berlingo, Citroen C-Zero, Mazda Demio EV, Mitsubishi iMiEV, Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan e-NV200, Nissan Leaf, Peugeot iOn, Peugeot Partner, Subaru Stella, Tesla Model S, Toyota eQ.

the new CCS to CHAdeMO adaptor, ordered for their Nissan e-NV200 van. So how is it performing and could this be the long-term answer for public charging for all the vehicles out there that still use this standard?

This adapter allows CHAdeMO vehicles to charge at CCS2 charging stations. Say goodbye to old, neglected CHAdeMO chargers. It also increases your average charging speed, as most CCS2 chargers are rated at 100kW and up, while CHAdeMO chargers are typically rated at 50kW. We achieved 75kW charging on a Nissan Leaf e+ (ZE1, 62 kWh), and this adapter’s technology is capable of 200kW.

Testing
The adaptor houses a female CCS2 socket on one side and a CHAdeMO male connector on the other. Simply plug the CCS lead into the unit then plug the unit into the vehicle.

In the last few days it has been tested on a variety of hardware around Northern Ireland and found to work successfully with rapid chargers from ESB, Ionity, Maxol and Weev.

The adaptor currently fails on EasyGo and BP Pulse units, although the BP chargers are known to be finicky and won’t, for example, charge the Telsa Model S or MG4 currently either.

As for speed, of course you are still limited to the CHAdeMO DC capabilities of your vehicle, so charging at a 350kW ultra-rapid CCS will still provide 50kW for most.

But this isn’t about speed as much as it’s about opening up the increasingly CCS-only public charging network to CHAdeMO vehicles.

The future
This device may not be appealing to private drivers yet, especially given its current cost. However, like any other technology, the price of these devices will decrease in the future. Compatibility will also improve, and any questions about certification and safety should be answered.

It’s not impossible that some charger operators may eventually incorporate these devices into their fast chargers, much like Tesla’s Magic Dock, which allows CCS cars to charge using the NACS interface at publicly accessible Superchargers in the United States.

For years, people have heard that CCS-to-CHAdeMO adapters are impossible, so it’s exciting to see this device in action. We expect these adapters to allow many older electric vehicles to continue to use public chargers in the coming years.
